IQ : EQ = Peace

Left and Right Brain

We know that human mind is one of the complex machinery in this world. It is the one which controls all the thoughts and actions in every one. It is one of the very important organs that set us apart from animals.

But, I don’t know that how many of us know that the brain is divided into two parts. The one is left brain and the other one is right brain. For fun people say that in today’s human race the left brain is one which already left us and the right brain, which is never right. Though it is said for fun, but some times we work brainless. That is why we heard people saying “mind it, mind your language, dimaag (mind) nahin hai kya? Etc…
The left brain handles the actions of right body and the right brain controls the action of left body.

The left brain is known as rational, mathematical, solves problems logically and sequentially looking at the parts/aspects of things/situation, is planned and structured, controls feelings, etc are its main qualities. The left brain thinks as mind.  It finds happiness in success, achievements, posessions, etc...

Whereas, the right brain is characterised to be intuitive, emotional, artistic, dreamy, it solves problems with hunches, is fluid and spontaneous, looks for patterns and configurations, flows with feelings, etc…the right brain thinks as our herat or conscience. It seeks happiness though art, creativity, imagination, dreaming, etc...

In today’s world we give so much importance to improve our IQ (Intelligent Quotient), our kids IQ. It is quite necessary too to be ahead in the current competitive arena. All the inventions, technology, automobile are contributions of high IQ.

But, there is one more, which we forgot completely. It is our EQ (Emotional Quotient). We never work on it. The EQ here is nothing but emotional, creative mind.

We all observe everyday that we suddenly get angry, nervous, sad, and happy, etc... We keep changing our emotions very frequently. Above all that sometimes we maintain one emotion on face, some other on tone and the third one in our thoughts, Uff… None of these stays for long. Out of this multitasking we forget what we are exactly, what I like, what I really expect, just we keep shuffling them. We keep playing the face off! It stresses us too much and kills our emotional strength.

We strongly believe that we will be heard only when we are loud, when words over take our emotions, when we do over hamming. In making people to hear us, look at us, we have emotionally stressed ourselves very much. Another thing is, in some deep roots of our thoughts we understood sad/misery is the emotion that touches people very fast. So, we started pretending we are sad, we are victims of time, destiny, people, etc… and gaining everyone’s sympathy. After sometime we really start believing that we are sad/unfortunate/deprived person.

There are mainly two categories which influence our emotions. The stressed Life, tension, worry, etc… falls under one category, which contributes to our thinking patterns. The others are like audio, visual, sensory feelings which influence our emotions as well as our thoughts.

The television has emerged as the biggest contributor in creating a base for our emotions and expressions for each sequence in recent days. They teach all the techniques of how to act, react, exibit emotions in different situations though daily soaps/serials, movies, reality shows, news, etc... The breaking news (in fact, breaking the hearts and emotions) or horrifying headlines of dailies are either killing our emotions by bringing a thought that it is okay, yeh to chalta hai attitude. The predefined ways of expressions cause lot of harm to our natural emotions. Unknowingly they sow the seeds of unhappiness and disturbance, in our mind and thoughts. Then it starts becoming our nature slowly, destroying and disturbing the peace within and around. Check whether someone else is holding our imotions.

We need to understand the importance of emotional management. We should be able to decide how much to entertain any emotion to impact us.

We should apply our analytical virtue of left brain and not allow it to take us on a ride with its influence. Similarly, invention without necessity, cause, pre-thinking, imagination and dream will lead to replication or waste of energy or may pose danger to the world in long run. Both are incomplete without each other's support and tolerance. The balanced proportion between the IQ and EQ will lead us to peace, love and happiness.

Check whether this write-up touched your emotions? If yes, then coutiously apply it in day-to-day Life!

    1. Control our emotional flow by applying the self assessment. Am I doing it right? Am I just following the world blindly in tacling situations?

It is possible by Detaching' from the annecessory emotions and finding the right meaning of Love, peace, happiness, concern, care etc...
